Dyespin Color Swatches - Updated
This post was edited August 2024
If you haven’t ever heard of Dyespin, they are an amazing company that is in Missouri. They sell fiber reactive dye used for tie dyeing, and their colors are fantastic. They also sell some other tie dye supplies, but so far I have just purchased their dye.
I’ve been using Dyespin for quite awhile now, and I love them! I’ve added more colors to my collection, and I’ve updated my color swatches to include ice dyed swatches along with the liquid ones since first posting this blog post.
I made the ice dyed swatches by adding the dye over the top of the ice (DOI) on a rack.
They have now added what they call “Dark Horse Dyes” to their website as well. These are dyes that were formulated especially for ice dyeing, and they have great color splits. I don’t have liquid dyed swatches for the Dark Horse dyes since they are specifically for ice dyeing. I ended up with 2 swatches for most of my Dark Horse dyes. The first set came out a little light and so I remade them. The first swatch is on the left and the newer swatch is on the right.
The Dark Horse dyes are in a separate section of the Dyespin website. Here is a link to the Dark Horse dyes
I reach for the Dark Horse dyes whenever I want a lot of impact without using a lot of dye colors. The splits in most of the colors are amazing. Mind Bender A & B are some of the more popular Dark Horse dyes. Mind Bender B has double the amount of blue in the dye, otherwise they are the same. I’ve made a comparison video so that you can see the difference between the two colors.
Recently Dyespin temporarily changed the way they take orders on their website. They make ordering available each morning at 7:30 am CST, but once they have received the amount of orders that they can process in a day, they close for orders until the next morning. The website says that it is just a temporary situation.

I am continually adding new dye colors to my collection. Below is a video of my latest liquid and ice dyed swatches, along with Dyespin’s new Dark Horse dye swatches. The Dark Horse swatches were formulated especially for ice dyeing.
